Loboettes snag area gold

The sixth ranked Levelland Loboettes eliminated the Bridgeport Sisses, 44-18, in Hamlin Friday evening to become the 4A Region 1 Area Champions. Scheduled for a 5 p.m. tipoff, the game wouldn’t get underway until 5:45 p.m.

Jaden Harris posted a game-high 21 points Monday as No. 16 South Plains won a pivotal conference road matchup, besting Frank Phillips 75-69 at the BCAC Center. The Texans improve to 20-5 on the season, including an 8-3 mark in league play.

The Ropes Lady Eagles downed the Fort Hancock Lady Mustangs 64-57 in the UIL Bi-District Girls’ Basketball Playoffs last Monday in Monahans. Ropes led throughout but the Lady Mustangs would not go away, attempting a rally in the fourth quarter.

With the potential of taking the second seed in district with a win on senior night against the Snyder Tigers Tuesday, the Levelland Lobos fell short, 41-34, finishing the season with the third seed. The Lobos end their regular season, 16-15, and 6-4 in district play.

The Sundown Roughettes hosted Tahoka Friday night and ended the season with a lopsided 63-33 victory to finish second in the district. The Sundown defense started out strong, creating havoc on the Lady Bulldog offense and holding them to three points.

The sixth ranked Levelland Loboettes blew out the Mineral Wells Lady Rams, 61-16, Monday night in Merkel becoming the 4A Region One Bi-District Champions. Improving to 31-3 overall on the season, the Loboettes made quick work of the Lady Rams, holding them to single digits in each quarter.

Roughnecks up a spot

The Roughettes traveled to Seagraves Friday night and returned with a 64-15 win over the Lady Eagles. The Roughettes started hot with a 22 point first quarter led by a pair of three pointers from Emma Holdman and five points each from Allie McCormick and Kaydence Loftin.
