Antleopes rally late to beat Wolverines

The Whiteface Antelopes needed a big fourth quarter rally to overcome the visiting Springlake-Earth Wolverines, 50- 44 in the Antelopes final nondistrict UIL high school six-man football game last Friday.

Morton drops district opener

The Morton Indians dropped their district opener at home 22-2 to the Plains Cowboys in UIL Class 2A-2 Region 1 District 4 high school football action last Friday. The Indians are classification 1A, but have chosen to play up for an 11 man football schedule and have struggled with injuries as well.

Lobos fall short in district opener

Falling short at home, the Levelland Lobos began district play with a 28-10 loss against the Perryton Rangers Friday. A game highlighted by the run game for both teams, the Rangers were successful in putting together a string of explosive plays.

The Whiteface Antelopes couldn’t overcome spotting the Kress Kangaroos three touchdowns in a 58-50 UIL high school six-man football loss last Friday.

Area teams run at Oil Patch

Area varsity and junior varsity cross country teams competed at the Sundown Oil Patch Invitational at Sundown High School last Saturday Morning. Varsity Girls The Sundown Roughette varsity runners placed third overall. Francis Ybarra, 8th place 14:03. Jaelin Wylie, 29th 15:03.

Lobos loses close fight in Dalhart

The Levelland Lobos lost a close fight against the Dalhart Wolves, 33-24, Friday in the panhandle. What felt like an uphill battle for the Lobos, Levelland Athletic Director and Head Coach Lyle Leong continued to encourage his team to compete.

SPC rodeo teams place six in finals

The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams qualified six for the finals of the Sul Ross State University Rodeo over the weekend in their second of five rodeos this fall.

Anton loses dogfight at home, 78-27

The Anton Bulldogs came up on the short end of a dogfight in a 78-27 loss to the visiting Spur Bulldogs in UIL high school sixman football action last Friday. Anton struggled, spotting Spur 16 points in the first quarter and giving up 32 unanswered points in the second, but wouldn’t just go away.
