Eagles punch ticket to area

The Ropes Eagles swept the Lockney Longhorns last Friday 20-3 and 24-1 in the best of three UIL Class 2A High School Bi-District Baseball Playoff series at Lubbock Christian High School. Ropes advances to the area round. They will face Sunray in Dimmit.

Bobcats end season in Littlefield

The Olton Mustangs swept the Smyer Bobcats 11-10 Thursday and 6-4 Friday to take the best of three UIL Class 2A Bi-District High School Baseball series in Littlefield. Game1 Game one of the series went to Olton, 11-10. Olton opened game one with a seven run first inning off Smyer’s Kaden Price.
SECOND IN MIXED DOUBLES- Sundown Middle School tennis teams competed at the district tournament earlier this week. Sundown returned home with several medals and a couple of district champions. Local track stars compete at regionals

West Texas A&M hosted the UIL Region I-2A Track Meet April 29th and 30th . In the 100 meter dash, Lady Eagle Heather McNabb placed first with a time of 12.21. In the 200 meter dash, Lady Eagle Heather McNabb placed first with a time of 25.66.

The Ropes Eagles fell 11-3 to the New Home Leopards in a UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball seeding game at Plainview High School on Saturday.

Roughettes give up eight home runs

The Forsan Lady Buffs used the long ball to their advantage in an 11-4 win over the Sundown Roughettes in a UIL Class 2A High School Softball Bi-District Playoff in Lamesa last Thursday. Forsan had eight home runs for nine runs in the one and done matchup.

LHS athletes compete at area meet

The Levelland varsity tracks teams had several athletes compete at the area track meet held on the road at Wylie High School last weekend. The Loboette varsity placed seventh overall with a total of 39 points. In the 1600 meter run, Evelyn Mendias placed second with a time of 5:55.59.
STARTING PITCHER- The Levelland Lobos fell behind early and could not come back in a 9-5 home loss to Snyder last Friday. Brayden Moore took the loss for Levelland. The righty gave up three hits and five runs in one and one-third innings. He also had one strike out.

Grand slam not enough for SHS

A grand slam by Hunter Tindol wasn’t enough for the Sundown Roughnecks to knock off the visiting Ropes Eagles as Sundown fell 8-6 in UIL District 42A High School Baseball action. The Roughnecks finish 7-5 and the Eagles finish 11-1 in district.
NATIONAL FINALS-The South Plains College women’s rodeo team will represent SPC at the highest level of collegiate rodeo after winning the women’s team title at the Tarleton State Stampede Saturday to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.
