Eagles hold off Roughnecks, 8-7

The Ropes Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and held on for an 8-7 UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball home win over the Sundown Roughnecks last Saturday. Both teams are in tight playoff races.

Lady Texans win team title

The South Plains College women’s rodeo team will represent SPC at the highest level of collegiate rodeo after winning the women’s team title at the Tarleton State Stampede Saturday to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.

LHS athletes compete at district meet

The Levelland Loboette varsity and junior varsity track teams competed at the Lamesa Meet last weekend. The Loboette varsity placed fourth with a total of 46 points. In the 100 meter dash, Tanaeasia Brackens placed eighth with a time of 14.91.

The Sundown Roughnecks scored five runs in the top of the second inning on their way to a 95 win over the visiting Tahoka Bulldogs in UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball action last Tuesday. The Roughnecks are currently leading a tight race with the Smyer Bobcats for third place in district.

SPC teams hit the track in New Mexico

The South Plains College men’s and women’s track and field teams capped the NMJC Ross Black Open with nine event titles on Saturday at the Ross Black Track and Field Complex.
ALL AROUND WINNER- Emery Mask won the women’s all-around title as the South Plains College women’s rodeo team moved into second place in the Southwest region standings with a second place team finish Saturday at the Howard College Rodeo. The Lady Texans tallied 230 points over the weekend, giving SPC 1,202 points on the season, a 92 point lead over Cisco, who is third in the region with 1,110 points. The Levelland Loboettes got back in the win column with a 12-1 home victory over the Estacado Lady Matadors Tuesday. Loboette Aubrianna Rivas made a great stop at first as an Estacado runner tried to get back to the bag before the tag was made.
