Lifeguard spots available

Spaces are still available for South Plains College’s American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course. Students can earn a CPR Professional certificate, a First Aid certificate, and a Lifeguard certificate upon successful completion of the course. The class begins Wednesday, April 19.

Eagles win games in decisive fashion

The Ropes Eagles varsity baseball team went 2-0 last weekend with decisive wins in UIL District 4-2A high school action. In the first match-up, the Eagles downed the visiting Tahoka Bulldogs 12-0 last Friday in a five inning game shorted by the run rule.

SPC teams combine for six event titles

The South Plains College men’s and women’s track and field teams combined for six event titles Friday at the Angelo State David Noble Relays at Legrand Stadium.
JUNIORS- Three Levelland Girls Little Dribblers All-Star Teams traveled to Canton, Tx to compete in the Little Dribblers National Tournament. The junior girls’ team were national runner-up! Team members are: Abrielle McCleod, Roxie Hall, Averi Escobar, Mia Hernandez, Charley Smith, Zaylei Sanchez, Kenna Grant, Lazeah Braithwaite, Kamrynne Hester, Natalie Manahan, and Alley Perez. District 4-2A area teams competitive

The Sundown Roughnecks tallied 15 runs in the first inning on their way to a 23-2 home win over the Smyer Bobcats in UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball action last Tuesday. Jeffrey Rodgrigues took the win, going four innings and allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

Walk-off has LHS tied for second

A walk-off double from Wyatt Bacchus in the bottom of the 11 inning gave the Levelland Lobos an 8-7 home win over the Estacado Matadors in UIL District 5-4A High School Baseball Action last Tuesday. Baccus’ stick continues to be red hot.

Roughettes win series at Cooper

The Sundown Roughettes took both games of a doubleheader from the Lockney Lady Longhorns last Saturday at Lubbock Cooper High School in UIL District 3-2A high school softball action. In game one of the series, Sundown outlasted Lockney,1812.

Kaden Price hit a walk-off three RBI single to center field for the Smyer Bobcats in a 7-6 UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball home win over the Sundown Roughnecks last Friday.

Gali Hernandez placed 11th and Mia Kuhlers placed 12th. Hernandez and Kuhlers are alternates for the regional tournament.”I am so proud of this team and all of their accomplishments. Sundown slips to third in district

Wednesday was a long day for Sundown as the Roughnecks dropped a road game to the New Home Leopard, 12-2. New Home scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Mason Turnbow, Jackson Raines and Logan Addison each had RBIs in the inning. Addison took the win for New Home.
