Roughettes outlast Lady Antelopes

The Whiteface Lady Lopes endured a close 55-53 home loss to the Sundown Roughettes Tuesday night in UIL high school girls’ basketball action last Tuesday.

Whiteface holds off late Sundown rally

The Whiteface Antelopes dominated the Sundown Roughnecks in a 64-53 home win last Tuesday in UIL high school boys’ basketball action. Whiteface led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter and took a 29-19 lead in the half-time locker room.

Texans push win streak to eight games

Three players scored in double figures Friday afternoon as the South Plains College men’s basketball team won their eighth straight game, besting Trinidad State College 60-47 at Cahoon Armory on the campus of New Mexico Military Institute.

Panther’s season ends in Hermleigh

The Whitharral Panthers’ football season came to an end last Saturday with a 76-31 loss to the Benjamin Mustangs in the UIL Class 1A-2 State High School Football Semi-Final game in Hermleigh. The game was cut short with 1:53 remaining in the third quarter by the 45 point rule.

Whiteface teams undefeated in tourney

Both the Whiteface girls’ and boys’ high school basketball teams came out as undefeated champions in the Way Out West Basketball Tournament in Whiteface over the weekend. In addition, members of both teams were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Lady Texans cruise past Lamar College

Three Lady Texans scored in double figures Thursday night as the South Plains College women’s basketball team cruised past Lamar College 76-44 at the Texan Dome. South Plains improves to 5-6 on the season and will be back on the floor on Dec. 16 when they take on Ranger College at 5 p.m.

Eagles dominate Bobcats at home

The Ropes Eagles downed the visiting Smyer Bobcats 55-31 in UIL high school boys’ basketball action last Tuesday. It took nearly 2 ½ minutes for either team to score. Ropes got first blood and led 4-0 midway through the first quarter.

Antelopes stomp Kangaroos, 66-22

The Whiteface Antelopes shut the visiting Kress Kangaroos down in a 62-22 win last Tuesday in UIL high school boys’ basketball action. Whiteface came out running hard and took a 21-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Ropes downs Smyer

The Ropes Lady Eagles downed the visiting Smyer Lady Cats 65-36 last Tuesday in UIL high school girls’ basketball action. Ropes took a 7-0 lead early and never looked back. They led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter and 38-14 at half-time. The score at the end of three periods was 58-20.
TWO POINTS- Drew Overstreet went up for a basket in a 55-31 Smyer Bobcat road loss to the Ropes Eagles last Tuesday in UIL high school boys’ basketball action.
