With this season’s football contest concluded, the News-Press will be announcing the winners of the past few weeks and the overall score of the contest in Sundays issue.

Antelope season comes to an end

The Whiteface Antelopes’ football season ended last Friday with a 70-24 loss to the no. 1 ranked Rankin Red Devils in the area round of the UIL Class 1A-1 high school playoffs at Borden County High school in Gail.

SPC Texans push win streak to five

Ismail Habib and Elijah Tate combined for 45 points Saturday as the South Plains College men’s basketball team won its fifth straight contest, clipping Dallas College-North Lake 83-81 at the Texan Dome. The Texans improve to 6-1 on the season and will be back on the floor in Plano Nov.

SPC’s Lady Texans fall to Trinity Valley 58-41

The South Plains College women’s basketball team fell to top-ranked Trinity Valley 58-41 Saturday at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center. The Lady Texans will be back on the road on Monday to take on the University of the Southwest JV at 5:00 p.m., followed by a trip to Athens Nov.

Panthers dominate area

The Whitharral Panthers football team dominated the Klondike Cougars, 64-20, Friday in Lubbock during the area round of playoffs. For Panther Head Coach Jeremy Holt, his squad came into the game ready to get revenge from last year’s meeting against Klondike that resulted in a loss.

Roughneck season ends in Hereford

The Sundown Roughnecks football season came to an end Thursday night in Hereford with a 49-8 loss to the defending Division 2 State Champion Stratford Elks. The Roughnecks struggled to move the ball against a tough Stratford defense as drives were stalled by the defense.
HEADED TO LCU- It was a great day at Levelland High School as senior Chloe Constantino signed with Lubbock Christian University (LCU) Monday. Chloe has a passion for softball and will now get to continue her softball journey at LCU. Chloe is an excellent student in the classroom and fabulous athlete on the field. LISD campuses closed for Thanksgiving

LISD campuses will be closed for the Thanksgiving break Monday, November 21 through Monday, November 28. Students will return to school at normal times Tuesday, November 29. LISD teachers will have a work day Monday, November 28.
