Eagles pull away from Plains, 35-18

The Ropes Eagles had their hands full for most of three quarters before pulling away in a 35-18 win over the visiting Plains Cowboys in UIL Class 2A-2 Region I, District 4 football action last Friday. Ropes Head Football Coach Lane Jackson had high praise for his team.

Bobcats fall behind early

The Smyer Bobcats fell behind in the first quarter and were never able to catch up as they lost to the Seagraves Eagles 42-24 in UIL Class 2A-2, Region I, District 4 high school football action last Friday.
SECOND IN BARRELS- Barrel racer Madison Bean led the Lady Texans with a second-place finish in barrel racing, notching 130 points for South Plains. SPC rodeo snags all around crown at Tech

Brey Yore captured the men’s all-around title and Madison Bean snagged the women’s allaround crown Saturday as the South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams each placed second in the final team standings at the Texas Tech University Rodeo.

Lobos wrap season

The Levelland Lobos wrapped up their regular season and district play with a 41-7 road loss to the Seminole Indians.

Aron Tanui placed seventh overall in the men’s 8k Saturday, leading the Texans to a fourth place team finish at the Region V Championships at Harry McAdams Park Tanui was the first runner across the line for South Plains, posting a 24:16.8, while Maximus Palacios turned in a 25:50.

District was nice, but Levelland is ambitious

In a battle of the top twp teams in the district, the Levelland Loboettes edged out San Angelo Lake View in an exciting match-up at Levelland High School last Friday. “It was an exciting moment,” said Loboette Head Coach Whitney Gibson. “It was something the girls and I knew was possible.

Sundown falls in Post, 28-21

The Sundown Roughnecks visited Post to play the Antelopes in an important district game for both teams and lost a hard fought match, 28-21. Post scored first to take a seven-point lead in the first quarter.
