SPC grants scholarship to student battling cancer

South Plains College offered a full tuition and fees scholarship to Briana Martinez, a high school senior in Lubbock diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.Martinez, a Coronado High School student who aspires to work in the veterinary field, accepted the offer on Feb. 27.

SPC 27th annual Scholarship Gala raises over $186,000 for students

South Plains College’s 27th annual Scholarship Gala on Feb. 21 brought in over $186,000 for student scholarships.Hosted by City Bank, the Gala was attended by supporters of the College and community members whose contributions continue to benefit SPC students’ lives.

Capitol Elementary hosted their 2025 Annual Spelling Bee last week. The Bee started with 29 spellers and went for nine rounds before Gracie Mejia won the Bee spelling, 'groves.' Yaneley Adame was the runner-up in the Bee, and Xavier Soliz came in as Alternate.
