The Morton Maidens took down the visiting Cotton Center Lady Elks 47-38 last Friday in UIL district 7-1A high school girls’ basketball action. Morton led 10-8 at the end of the first period, but stepped up their offense for a 23-12 lead at half-time. The third quarter score was 39-22.

The Levelland Loboettes, ranked sixth in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll, dismantled the visiting Sweetwater Lady Mustangs 6120 in UIL district 5-4A high school girls’ basketball action last Friday.

The Levelland Loboettes improved to 2-0 in district play after holding off the Snyder Lady Tigers at home Tuesday, 50-40. Coming out of the gate, the Loboettes offense put up a 22-4 lead over the Lady Tigers within the first eight minutes.

Sundown splits district road games

The Roughnecks went to New Home Tuesday to face a much taller, deeper Leopard team and took a 73-33 loss in district play. Sundown struggled with the height of the Leopards in rebounding and shooting as shots got blocked and boards were taken by New Home.

In a dominating and familiar fashion, the Levelland Loboettes are 1-0 after defeating the Big Spring Lady Steers, 58-9, Friday on the road in their district opener.

The Levelland Lobos dropped their last non-district home game against the Seminole Indians 47-37 in a UIL high school basketball game that went back and forth until the final period last Friday. Levelland was down 4-0 in the first two minutes after Seminole converted three turnovers.
