Lobos battle until the end in final game

Facing off against the Monahans Loboes in the 4A-2 Bi-District round, the Levelland Lobos fell short of extending their season as they lost, 27-15, Thursday in Andrews. Wrapping up a 2-9 season, the Lobos have battled throughout several games this season falling short at the very end.

Texans nab two wins at Collin County Classic

Four Texans scored in double figures Friday as the South Plains College men’s basketball team thumped Jacksonville College 83-41 in their first of two games at the Collin County Classic at Cougar Gymnasium. South Plains improved their record to 3-1 on the season.

Eagles stumble in bi-district round

The Ropes Eagles’ varsity football team fell to the Sudan Hornets in Slaton on Friday, 4312, in the Class 2A Bi-district Championship game. The Eagles totaled 231 yards of total offense, including 33 rushing yards and 198 passing yards.

The Whiteface Antelopes advanced to the Area Round of the UIL Class 1A-1 Region II High School Football Playoffs with a 56-6 Bi-District win over the Van Horn Eagles last Friday in Rankin.

Panthers avenge loss to Silverton, 46-0

The Whitharral Panthers avenged a regular season loss to the Silverton Owls in convincing style with a 46-0 win in a 45-point rule shortened UIL Class 1A-2 Bi-District Playoff last Friday in Lockney.

The Roughettes hosted the Floydada Lady Winds to open the 2022-2023 season and won 49-36.

The South Plains College men’s basketball program will send four players from the 202223 squad to Division I universities next season, which was made official on Wednesday, the first day athletes could sign their national letter of intent.

Panthers win defensive battle, 24-20

The Whitharral Panthers got an uncharacteristically low scoring 24-20 road win over the Amherst Bulldogs last Friday to take the UIL Class 1A-2 Region I District 2 High School Football Championship. The Panthers found themselves down 6-0 midway through the second quarter.
CLOSING SPACE- Sundown defenders (71) Dakota Golightly, (88) Jadon McAdams and (11)Michael Salazar close on the Bulldog QB. The Roughnecks defeated Tahoka at home last Thursday and punched their tickets to the playoffs. The Roughnecks drew undefeated Stratford (10-0) for the first round of the playoffs to be played in Hereford on Thursday, November 10th.

The Sundown Roughnecks hosted the Bulldogs of Tahoka on Thursday night with both teams fighting for a chance to stay alive in the playoff hunt and the Roughnecks emerged victorious 39-26.
