Antelopes receive All-Region awards

Several Whiteface Antelopes received UIL Region II, Division 1 All-Region honors in addition to the all district honors. The Antelopes finished their season at 9-3 overall with a 3-0 district record and both a district and bi-district championship.

NICE PASS- The Levelland Lobos got a much needed 53-36 home win over Denver City Friday. Neamiah Campos found an open teammate with a bounce pass. The Lobos are now 7-8 on the season.

MHS teams split games

The Morton high school Maiden girls’ basketball team took a 59-37 road loss from the Anton Lady Dawgs in UIL District 1A-7 high school basketball action last Tuesday. Morton trailed 21-15 at the end of a spirited first quarter.

Roughettes lose OT nail biter

The Sundown Roughettes hosted the Sudan Hornettes Friday night and lost an overtime nail biter, 47-45. The Roughettes slipped behind Sudan early and trailed by four at the end of the first quarter, 17-13.

Local basketball squads in action

The Whiteface Lady Lopes high school girls basketball team opened UIL District 1A-7 play with a 56-14 shellacking of the visiting Meadow Lady Broncos last Tuesday. Whiteface led 16-2 at the end of the first quarter and it really never got better for Meadow.

Levelland rolls out welcome mat

The fifth ranked Levelland Loboettes rolled out the welcome mat for the 15th ranked Tacosa Lady Rebels Friday. Tascosa feasted on the Loboettes’ paint defense by dropping 40 points in the paint to knock off Levelland, 61-32.

The Antelopes downed the Ropes Eagles in the championship game 53-36 on Saturday. Whiteface hosts Springlake-Earth at 6:30 p.m. while Ropes hosts Petersburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Local teams compete in tournaments

Local high school boys and girls varsity basketball teams competed at tournaments across the south plains. last weekend Anton The Anton Bulldogs high school boys’ basketball team struggled at the Smyer Invitational Basketball Tournament last weekend.

Lobo football players named to all-district

Several Levelland High School football players have earned all-district honors. Senior Marco Guillen earned all-district first team as a running back, while junior Joe Pena was first team offensive lineman. Rusty Johnson, a sophomore was first team fullback and first team inside linebacker.
